Jane Plainly Enjoys Her Game
A junior golf coaching course is proving popular with youngsters during the summer holidays.
And the coaches are enjoying it every bit as much as their young charges.
Kingsfield Golf Centre, Linlithgow, has gone out of its way to attract top quality coaches to pass on tips and techniques to the eager youngsters.
One of the coaches is Jane Connachan, who for many years was Scotland's youngest ever Curtis Cup player, having represented her country at just 16 years of age.
Now in her 25th year as a professional golfer, Jane's record stood until very recently.
She's passing on the benefit of all that experience to the youngsters at Kingsfield. "We are teaching everything from swing techniques, to short game techniques and pitching, chipping, bunker play and putting," added Jane.
"For example, a lot of modern glove manufacturers put markings on their golfing gloves. But many people either don't know they are there or don't know how to use them."
Jane has always wanted to be a professional golfer and recommends the life to anyone thinking about it. "I was only four when I knew that there was never anything else I wanted to do. When I was at school, my mind was always on golf.
"My first golf bag was the leg of my dad's old trousers."
