Bob Wallace Trophy
On Sunday 11th July Linlithgow Rugby Club defended the Kingsfield Trophy against the Linlithgow Rose Club for the 2nd year in this annual match played at Kingsfield Golf Range.
After last years hammering by the Rugby Club 5-1 the Rose club brought in some new faces and the changes certainly worked as they ran out convincing winners 4.5-1.5 points.
The match was played in very windy conditions but dry all day and the course was playing very tough on some holes.
After the golf the 2 teams retired to the Rose Club where they were treated to soup and lovely cold finger food prepared by Mr & Mrs Whyte plus a few drinks to wash the food down.
The Kingsfield Trophy in memory of Bob Wallace (former photographer Linlithgow Journal & Gazette) was presented by the Provost of Linlithgow Norman Cummings.
The players enjoyed late hospitality in the Rose club to watch the Football World Cup final and a very good day & evening was enjoyed by all. Both clubs were very pleased to be looked after so well at Kingsfield to coffee/tea plus Bacon rolls before the golf and also for the catering at the Rose club.
Also thanks go to Robert Arkley at Kingsfield & Stephen Gallacher for donating the trophy.
The contest is now 1 win each and next year the clubs will retire to the rugby after the golf match which will be played at Kingsfield again.
