History of Kingsfield
Before 1995, Kingsfield was a working farm of about 150 acres set near Linlithgow, in the heart of West Lothian in Central Scotland. Five generations of the Arkley family have farmed there but it became increasingly difficult to run a viable business. Therefore the family decided to embark upon a farm diversification project.
The farm diversification project involved the construction of a golf driving range and coffee shop using about 8 acres of the farm site. Over the last 12 years, there have been regular developments at Kingsfield with the addition of a putting green, professional golf tuition and
non golfing activities such as laser clay shooting.
While the Kingsfield Driving Range was performing well including the additional activities it was clear that there was huge potential to grow but that it would need a quantum leap in thinking and investment. After a full market investigation and review, the decision was taken to build a top quality USGA specification 9 hole golf course as the centrepiece of the expanded Kingsfield business.
In 2007, Kingsfield Leisure Limited was born and work began on the design and construction phase engaging the services of Graeme J Webster and his Team Niblick outfit who are one of Scotland’s leading golf development organisations.
Team Niblick have now built a USGA specification 9 hole golf course, specialist short game area and family putting green. The construction phase has now been completed and the putting green opened for business in August 2008 and received rave reviews. The 9 hole golf course and specialist short game area were fully opened to the public in May 2009.
We also expanded our Events business and now offer laser clay shooting, archery, falconry, golf, putting, target golf and our Events offerings are consistent with our overall policy of the very best quality possible. We have introduced a number of expert external partners who can provide bespoke packages that can be tailored for any demands that our customers may have.
Our main focus now is preparing for 2009 and beyond when the Kingsfield Golf Centre will be able to offer a full range of golf related activities as well as the non golf activities that are available.
